I am curious as to how society really views short people. I mean lets face it, people get bullied for being short or different during school, and during the rest of their lives. They are treated differently because of their shortness and people don’t seem to realize that they are normal as well. They are trying to live normal lives and get on the best they can. There is a show that is called “Little People, Big World” on TLC, and it shows the daily struggles that little people have to go through in a world built by and for normal height people. Being short myself, I understand that it is sometimes difficult to find clothes that aren’t too long or finding a car that isn’t that difficult to look over the steering-wheel in. I think that that is one of the most challenging things. If you are supposed to be over 4 feet and 9 inches to be able to stop having to use a child seat in the car, imagine how difficult it is to find something like that to be able to place in the front seat of the car and still be able to reach the pedals. Or imagine going to the grocery store to buy your groceries and not being able to reach the top of the shopping cart. I think that it is a great thing that this show is trying to make the public aware of the struggles that they have to go through, as for the genetics involved in this, it is quite possible that as soon as there is a cure to this problem, more people are going to opt to go with the solution than with the problem. It is much more easy to live a normal life without a biological problem than with it.
