Human Nature

Who wouldn’t want to be sleepless? Especially during college because you would be able to complete everything more quickly and be more efficient. I think that people are always going to have a bias against some people in the world. It is human nature to grab an aspect of another human being and hate them for it, so why worry about it? As long as there are laws that protect minorities, or everyone, then the bias should not be that important.

I think that one of the main reasons why the bias against the sleepless is that rich parents are the ones that are more likely to be able to afford the creation of that type of children. That being the case the sleepless, even if they were normal, would have a greater chance at success just because of their parents’ wealth. So, the bias would still be there, it might just not be as seen or acted on as it was seen in Beggars in Spain.

So while there will always be some sort of bias against a certain group of people in the world, I think as long as we have proper ways to protect the minority that was being attacked, then humanity will go on as it has. People will always be jealous of something or another, but I feel like that, with time, people will grow to be understanding especially if lawmakers protect the affected party. So once genetic engineering becomes possible, people will need some time to get used to it so that they can grow to accepted. Options tend to always be offered to the wealthy first, it would just be a matter of time before it trickles down to the masses.

One Response to “Human Nature”

  1. Human nature…we always want what we can’t or don’t have. But is the grass really greener? People who don’t need sleep may not necessarily be more efficient. We need sleep for a reason!
